Karen’s career as a Makeup Artist began in the late 1980’s and her passion for makeup and passing on her knowledge has only increased in all of these years. Karen’s career has included working with local & international photographers & filmmakers, as well as working for the iconic makeup brand DIOR and meeting & working with many celebrities from that time til now on various Film, TV and Editorial shoots. Karen also trained makeup & how to be a professional makeup artist at various prestigious beauty schools across Australia, which in turn and inevitably prompted Karen to begin ICON School of Makeup in the early 2000’s.
Highlights for Karen over her career include creating programs in Makeup and Special Effects for Youth At Risk Programs via the PCYC both in NSW and WA. Personal Development programs incorporating grooming and makeup for young males and females via the Department of Education out of school programs. Karen worked on ad campaigns for the NSW Government that were some of the first of a generation of Environmental Campaigns that invited the public to get involved actively to lower their waste output and focus on the planet via the It’s a Living Thing campaign!
A constant highlight is working with individuals whether personal clients for their wedding; or corporate photo shoots; or models & actors on an editorial or film job to make them look and feel amazing and get ready for their close ups!
